Teachers to attend paid union meetings

We value the work our teachers and principals do and progressing their pay and working conditions in the current bargaining round is a priority for us.

As you may have seen the Ministry of Education has made an initial offer to principals and primary teachers.

The NZEI Te Riu Roa union is now holding a series of meetings around the country to discuss the bargaining round.

These meetings start on Monday 18 June 2018.

A list of the meetings can be found on the NZEI website.

Teachers are entitled to attend two paid union meetings a year. It’s important to remember though that schools are required to remain open during these meetings.

Any parents or guardians who are concerned about the timing of these meetings should contact their school.
