Supporting students in secondary schools

Everyone in a school has a role to play in supporting the wellbeing of students.

We have been working with specialist staff and sector experts to develop guidelines for the provision of pastoral care, guidance and counselling in secondary schools.

The guidelines help secondary schools and wharekura discuss the roles, expectations and legal requirements of form/whanau teachers, deans, guidance counsellors, school trustees and principals, in the provision of pastoral care.

Parents and whanau wanting to know what to expect from their child’s secondary school may find these guidelines useful.
