Ka Hikitia in Action magazine
People all around the country are working together every day, in lots of different ways, to help our tamariki and rangatahi reach their full potential.
The second issue of the Ministry's magazine, Ka Hikitia in Action, shares real, practical stories of Māori enjoying and achieving education success as Māori. It shows what can happen when communities take the lead and turn a government strategy, like the Māori education strategy, Ka Hikitia - Accelerating Success 2013-2017, into action. Exciting things - like a Kaikohe weaving group running a drop in playgroup for preschoolers through to Rangitāne o Wairarapa using whānau education action plans to help their students and whānau to talk about what they want for their future and developing a plan to get there!
Have a read of Ka Hikitia in Action on the Ministry of Education website. Share the stories in it - with your children and whānau, the people at your work, your sports club, at the marae - wherever you go. Get involved. Take ideas from them and use them in your communities.
If you are doing something new and exciting to help Māori education, the Ministry would love to hear from you. Email the Ka Hikitia team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
