We use Facebook and Twitter to share news, advice and information about education in New Zealand.


You can connect with us on Facebook and receive posts with news, helpful advice and information for parents.

Facebook is one of the most popular and widely used social networking sites in the world today. If you follow us on Facebook you are subject to the Ministry’s Terms of Use for Facebook, which can be found on our Facebook page.


You can follow us on Twitter @EducationGovtNZ and receive tweets about our latest news, emergency warnings (like school closures during bad weather), information about education in New Zealand and good news and interesting stories from the Ministry and from those organisations we follow. This account has information for all audiences, and will include information that’s of interest to parents.  

Twitter is a free social networking service that allows registered members to send and read short posts called tweets.If you follow us on Twitter you are subject to the Ministry of Education’s social media terms of use, as well as Twitter’s Terms of Service and Rules.


Our Facebook and Twitter pages are routinely monitored from 8.30am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, but may also be monitored outside these hours. They are not monitored on public holidays or the period between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. We will try to reply within one business day, to any questions.
